Strengths and weaknesses

It is the basic approach for all entrance exams. But this is something that people don’t know how to make the best use of. NEET covers three subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. There are 45 questions from both-Physics and Chemistry. And 90 questions from Biology. Now think logically, is it possible to perform equally well in all three subjects?

Most students who appear for NEET are good in two subjects, usually biology and chemistry. And you need to use this fact to your advantage. Most parents and teachers would suggest that you work equally hard on each subject- give them equal time and put in equal effort. But that will only make you an average student, not an achiever. If you want to secure a seat in NEET 2020, you need to be smart.

You need to identify your strengths and weaknesses. You need to determine which subject you are good at and which subject escapes you. Once you know it, you are one step closer to success.

Strategize

Once you have segregated your subjects based on your ability to understand them, you need to make a plan. Your aim should be to work hard on subjects you are already good at. Go from ‘just good’ to ‘brilliant’. You need to give those subjects your maximum time. But, under no circumstances, ignore other subjects. The remainder of your schedule should be divided amongst the subject you are bad or average at. You need to make sure that you don’t slip down from ‘Bad’ to ‘Worse’.

The point to understand here is you need to sharpen your skills. You need to improve your grasp of the subject you are already good at. But at the same time do not ignore other subjects.

A strategic approach like this will ensure that you get a better score, and you can easily test it using practice tests.

Physics- the key to good rank

As mentioned earlier, most students who appear for NEET, have a good understanding of Biology and Chemistry. But most of them lag in Physics. You can use this to your advantage. If you have a decent understanding of physics you are already ahead of three-fourth of the population.

You shouldn’t be surprised to know that physics has the potential to uplift your rank by hundreds. It is worth working on!

Coaching classes and study hours

Coaching classes are very important for NEET preparation. There you learn, not only about the subjects but also how to approach them. Coaching classes teach you how to tackle a question and give your best in the exam hall.

But what students fail to understand is that, for NEET, just coaching classes are not enough. As a medical aspirant you are expected to put in extra study hours only then will you see some positive results.

Practice papers

Many online platforms conduct mock tests and offer practice papers to help students prepare for NEET. Make the best use of it. During a practice test, more than the actual answer, you need to focus on time management. First, read and mark all questions you know the answers to. It is advisable to start with biology since there are no complicated calculations involved. Then move on to chemistry and physics.

You need to target the easy questions and mark them on your OMR sheet. Then, you can dedicate the remaining time to other questions.

These are some simple tactics to embrace if you want to score a decent rank in NEET 2020. The most important thing to know is, it does not matter how hard you work, you will get results only from smart work!
