Some rules to follow to stay fit and healthy:

  • Quit Being a Couch potato: Isn’t this something that we all love! Lazing around the house in our big soft couches as we work or watch television or even take a nap. Well, first things first, this habit has to change if you are to achieve your fitness goals. The soft cushioned seating arrangements are best avoided for prolonged periods and this is especially important if you already have some problems with your joints or back. It is a good idea to move around the house from time to time, maybe make yourself a cup of coffee, or tidy up the house. While you come back to the comfort of your favourite couch, remember to sit in a different posture than earlier and make sure that you take note of the duration of time spent on the couch.
  • Get involved with the household chores: Now this might sound odd whilst you are surfing through material that involves fitness goals. But be rest assured, the common household chores can be a great way to burn calories. Indulge in activities such as cleaning the windows, dusting and mopping the apartment, or look after the plants. Some results suggest that tidying up your living space can be as effective as a 5km run. It does not require special mention that you would also be cleaning and sanitizing your house in the process and what better way to kill two birds with one stone!
  • Go outside for a walk (Only if your country allows): We understand that not all countries require you to stay indoors all the time. If you abide by the general rules of social distancing, many countries do not have an issue if you go for a quick walk or a run. You can also go biking and burn a few calories in such cases. However, if your region demands a stricter lockdown due to a more serious virus infection then simply through this plan. We do have plenty of others for the likes of you!
  • Go for the fitness apps: How difficult is it to find the motivation to do the exercises at home? For most, it is an uphill task and that is precisely why people hit the gym. However, with the advent of some top-notch fitness apps, it is no longer a big issue. Now, you can download some of these apps like MyFitnessPal, Google Fit, and several others that will help you get your quota of exercises. You will plenty of motivation as you see your ranking on these apps in comparison to others. You can even partner with a friend in some of the fitness apps and get competitive spirits rolling. Besides the good that it will do to your cardiovascular health, this exercise is also going to keep you in better mental health. Don’t we all need that in these chaotic times!
  • Check out fitness trainers on YouTube or Social Media: Instagram and Youtube have some of the world’s finest fitness trainers putting up their workout plans. Scan through these and find the one that is best suited to you. Once that is narrowed down, you can go about your daily workout regime without the slightest of problems. With expert guidance, you can also avoid the wrong moves during exercising that can do you more harm than good.
  • Take Time Out to Meditate: Whilst most of our focus has been on physical health in this article, mental health is of no less importance. Our lives have changed drastically and not for the better. With alarming news coming in every day, the shattering economies, and your locked-up state, it is important that your mental health is not affected. Meditation can do you a world of good in this regard. Perfect some simple breathing exercises while you meditate for some time. You would be surprised at the positive results.
  • Watch what you eat: It is easy to eat more than what you need to when you are locked up at home all day. While we do encourage that you cook a hearty meal once in a while, you must be eating healthy regularly. Replace the chips with some nuts and replace the Cola drinks with some healthy smoothies and juices. Go easy on the red-meat and fried junk food and stock up on vegetables and greens. In short, win over the temptation of a quick tasty snack and half the battle is won. Drink plenty of water since many tend to drink less often when they are in the comfort of their houses without having to move around much.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, we would like to add that tough times call for desperate measures. By no means is the lockdown going to be easy and neither are you going to find keeping yourself fit the easiest of tasks. Follow the instructions religiously and you would surprise yourself with the positive outcomes. Let us put in our best efforts and emerge stronger when the tough times end.
